Number of doctors providing charity care drops

One of the comments that I often hear when discussing health care is that people without health insurance can get health care anyway. As this article points out, this is not necessarily the case. This study found that a combination of lower reimbursements from the government and health insurance companies along with fewer doctors in private practice has translated into fewer doctors providing free services for patients who cannot pay. As a result, these people are more likely to come to the emergency room where treatment is more costly (to society).
